e.g I totally agree with this letter and think TIS needs a school pool as we have a beach close by. This summer there has been record numbers of drownings in New Zealand meaning many people haven't learnt basic water skills at school. Having a pool here at school would give us time to improve our skills so we are safer at the beach.

  1. I agree with the letter because it is important for kids to learn to swim before its to late and they drown.

  2. I agree also because there is on average 1.2 million people that die each year because of drowning, that is around 2 people drowning per minute world wide. 50% of that amount are children, most likely because they don't know how to swim, so i think that its very important to learn to swim at a young age so if we were at a beach/river or whatever, we know how to swim. 1.2 million per year is HUGE we need to lower that down, so pools in schools is a great idea.

  3. Yep, We need a pool because like we've all said, drowning is a big thing and theres to many people drowning a year and we need to stop that by creating an pool environment for kids our age to be able to swim, About 10 people die every year from not knowing how to swim that are 14 or under. So this is why i think its an amazing idea to create a swimming pool for our environment

  4. I agree that we should have a pool in school but it costs a lot of money to place and maintain the pool. The pool can help people training for water polo and underwater-hockey. There are to many deaths caused by drowning so I agree that we should swim at school.

  5. i do not think we should to have a swimming pool because it costs alote to run and keep clean if we are running around at lunch and morning tea.You could just go to the local pools and its only like a $1.80 for as long as you want

  7. I don't agree that we should have a pool pool because you could go
to the pools and it will be way cheaper then buying a pool and we might not even
afford a pool for the school.

  8. I disagree with this as i'm part of the school council and the cost for a pool and to keep it clean is way too much. Also as Chavez & Lenin said you can go the local pools for $1.80

  9. I agree if we have a school pool we will be able to learn how to swim and play water sports. But on the other hand we can't keep it clean and running due to cost of it.

  11. I disagree with the statement. kids can go to a local pool for just over a dollar and lakes and rivers for free. the school just doesn't have the budget to run it all year and it will only get used for a number of weeks. It would run our school bankrupt.

  14. I agree with the letter because it is important for kids to learn swimming skills before its to late and they drown.Plus a school pool would be awesome for leisure time for students who don't have anything to do, water sports and most importantly, IT'S FREE!!!!!!! The down side of having a pool is maintenance , keeping it clean and cost. But who care's it'll still be awesome.

Also if a primary school *My old school Gate Pa* can keep a pool , I'm sure a intermediate can.Just saying.

FYI My parents would rather make me swim in a school pool than a creek or river. So it would benefit people who are too afraid to swim in rivers or don't have permission to leave house!

  16. I Agree with the letter it is very important that children get the opportunity to learn how to swim, otherwise they may end up drowning or not knowing what to do once in the water. But yes it is a lot of money & time to clean it!

  17. I agree that schools should have swimming pools because it would help younger kids learn to swim qicker.Even though kids can swim in rivers, lakes and at the beach but some kids arn't confident enough to swim in places like that.
